Move is complete (more or less). Just have to clean the apartment and then bring the cleaning stuff over. Final check-out with the apartment complex tomorrow, but we still may have to pay August rent because we had to sign another year's lease when everything was up in the air.
Bleh.
Anyway, love the house. It's a mess, and there's a lot of work to do, but I love it. And I think I won't miss the woods as much as I thought, because it turns out there's a big "undeveloped" area of woods right across the street. It's much more extensive than I originally thought. Woot!
More later. There will be a house party once we are more settled in. Right now, as MJ so eloquently put it, it looks like the apartment puked all over the living room, so... no party until I find the living room floor. :)
Also, I think I may need this shirt. Whee.

>_< The daily nausea is back with a vengeance. I hate it. The acid reflux medicine the allergist gave me on Friday isn't doing a thing so far. I think I also have a cold... or else it's allergies again. Can't tell, but I'm stuffed up and my ears & throat hurt.
Work is just too damn busy, but for the past three weeks I've hardly been able to concentrate to get my work done. TOO MUCH TO DO!! And I can't get it all done, and then I get phone calls from people asking about something or other I haven't gotten around to, and I just... I just can't stay on top of it all.
*sigh* At least packing is going fairly well... I just wish I could take this entire week off.
Ok, back to work.

As my hubby already posted here, the house is a GO!
We asked the sellers for more money and they said yes. We are getting more for the repairs (though not enough for everything, still, sadly) and they are paying the closing costs. Because they are giving us the money for closing rather than loaning it, we will also have a slightly lower loan amount and monthly payment. So it work out well.
So now the "Oh crap we have to pack!" has set in. But at least we started already. (If you have spare boxes, now would be the time to let us take them off your hands, btw.) We will be packing every evening this week... except maybe Wednesday, when I think we have an ST meeting... Closing is Friday and we will be moving like mad people on Friday evening, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

:( Our tomato plants are dying. I think it's blight. I don't think we're going to get any ripe tomatoes out of them. :(
We've had such a hard time with the garden this year... at least the kale and onions are doing well, even though nothing else is. :(
Anyone like fried green tomatoes?

Guh... The 4 Year Old McDonald's Cheeseburger
(Makes me even MORE glad I don't eat fast food!)
Inspection done, found a couple big things but they are fixable. Mostly the house is in great shape. I talked to my dad and he can probably fix these things, so we might just try to get money from the sellers rather than having them pay to fix it. (Then we'd end up with more money and my dad would get some of it rather than someone we don't know.)
My parents are going to give us some furniture, too, now that we have more room. We'll have an actual dining room table (though I foresee it being used a lot for gaming purposes ;) ) and a small desk/drawer/cabinet set. Woot!
The kitties, as usual, are spending their day pouting and sleeping, but they don't know yet that they will have their own room and they will get to keep their favorite scratching/perching couch all to themselves. :) Poor kids, I don't envy them the ordeal of moving without having ANY idea what's going on!!
Alright, I guess I'd better go work on packing...

So, how on earth is it LEGAL, when we are supposed to have anti-trust/anti-monopoly laws, that when you move you are forced to use the phone company that services that area, period, and they apparently have a law in place that no other provider is allowed to come in and compete? Hello, capitalists? How is this legal?
It's one thing if there just isn't any competition because there isn't demand. But to put a LAW into place that ABC company is the only company allowed to provide service X for a certain area? That is BULLSHIT.
Edit: According to Smithville, Comcast is just a lying bastard and they just -choose- not to service that area. Same result, though.

^_^ Thank you everyone for the congrats & well-wishes. Closing is scheduled for the 25th, so we will be moving a lot that evening and weekend, if anyone wants to help.
Trying to get utilities sorted out. Can't keep the same phone number, so we'd have to go with either Smithville or Comcast for the phone, neither of which I've heard great things about, so... hrmph. Anyway, I'll let you all know when my phone number changes.
Work stressful, house stuff stressful... I need more sleep!

Update: We got a counter-offer from the seller and we’re meeting with the realtor tomorrow morning to sign a new counter-offer from us. Moving toward a middle!

We've crunched the numbers and given it some thought, and I think we're going to put an offer on that house. I'm scared! But excited. I hope we can get this done without someone else putting down an offer first, and I hope that our offer is accepted.

*crosses fingers* My first ever batch of strawberry jam is cooling... I hope the jars seal right and that it is very tasty...
This is the first time I have ever tried to can ANYTHING, and I'm not doing it with a water bath canner or a pressure canner or anything, just jars heated in water and then filled. I also didn't use pectin, but the recipe I used didn't call for any. So... I hope it works!
*crosses fingers* Eee, it is so exciting! And scary!
